Sohail Anjum, born and raised in London, England is a freelance filmmaker, producer and photographer, who has worked in the film and television since the last 14 years. He currently works for ShortsTV, where he leads the acquisitions of short films for Asia as well as managing the Best of India Short Film Festival, which helps to give selected filmmakers a chance at Oscar qualification. In the last four years of managing the festival, Sohail has managed to watch over 7000+ short film submissions.
He has also turned to Executive Producing, where he has worked on three short film projects, things we never said, Cybershot and Me, Raani (currently on a festival run). When not exec producing, Sohail is busy working on developing his documentary and short film projects.
Prior to Shorts TV, Sohail Anjum was based in the UAE between 2013 - 2019, where he worked in content acquisition for a local OTT service where he oversaw strategy for English, Hindi and foreign language films, and TV series, and negotiated license agreements and managed key relationships with regional and international major and independent studios, content providers and filmmakers.
He started off his media career in 1999 as Picture Editor for Eastern Eye Newspaper and then as in-house photographer for Asiana Magazine and was followed by a short stint as Entertainment Editor for a free local newspaper, Asian City. Sohail Anjum is also the co-author on the book, A Divine Destruction, which tells the unfinished story of the Kashmir earthquake in 2005.
